Ancient and other veteran trees

The conservation of ancient trees is an issue close to the heart of Pro Natura. We can help with everything from surveys to courses in ancient tree management – in Sweden and abroad. We can write management plans for individual trees, avenues, old pollards, wood pastures, and churchyards. We can also provide veteranisation plans and undertake monitoring of ancient and other veteran trees. With our other experts, we can document the mosses, lichens, fungi, and insects that live in the old trees. With this knowledge, the mapping of ancient and other veteran trees becomes even more detailed. Through our network, we can also offer qualified arborist services.

Pro Natura was project manager for the development of the European projects VETree and VETcert where pan-European training and a certification scheme were developed for those working with old trees.
